PACK RAT

 

travelling is such an exciting adventure, and packing is such a personal venture

more often than not, people treat packing with the last minute approach, which is  inconceivable for me. a trip is the sum of many parts. personally, i greatly enjoy the front-end: researching & packing. based on sufficient due diligence of these two elements, you can usually know & plan out a solid attire scheme. as soon as i plan a trip, my mind immediately wanders to what i will/should be wearing while i wander [there]. i replay details, terrain, weather & events over-and-over in my head. it is standard fare for me to have packed, at least mentally, weeks in advance & i prefer to have the actual luggage packed days in advance. this is not only efficient, but is good for liabilities. those last 48 hours, i usually remember something i will need or forgot to add. i simply drop it in rather than trying to shake off the regret of the inevitable have-not once already on the trip.  

i look for inspiration and efficiency and found both here in gwyneth's simple outfit, practical shoes & proper amount of bags/weekenders. a job well done.

this shot has it all. i love the blue colored background that makes the shoes POP. standing around a striped bench and assorted shoe boxes. plus, this outfit is timeless.

tracy reese

i am so smitten with this designer. some of my most beloved, beaded pieces are by tracy reese, both tracy reese & her line "plenty" by tracy reese.

when i saw this image, i knew i couldn't live without this dress. the picture does not even do it justice. the dress is all black lace with a black, silk, pouf-bottomed slip underneath. as is the dress is divine, and as my friends so well know, i have upped the ante and worn only the lace overlay out with a nude body suit underneath - high impact!!

#i die... where to even begin? when i say i live for this, i mean it.

beaded pleated tulle gown, givenchy haute couture, done its visual justice as only gilles bensimon could !! even years after first lying eyes on this, i still can't breathe.  the juxtaposition of an ethereal gown gracing the harsh NYC streets does it for me every time. not to mention, the pensive pout & long gloves. too much !!

if given the chance for this beloved gown to grace my closet, i'd be hard pressed to EVER take it off.  some people prefer to merely gaze longingly at their precious pieces and dare not take them out except for the utmost of events (mother dearest), which is respectable. i, on the other hand, would find any excuse to wear this, even if on a trip to the market to purchase [insert any item] ... i kid not!

WHO'S THE BOSS

enough said? oh yah!!

it must be said i have a ferocious appetite for clippings, a lifelong obsession. others see magazines and, at best, peruse. i, going so much further, see fashion content and DEVOUR. if i was surrounded by my endless years of clippings, saved/coveted issues and various stacks of books, i could entertain myself for a length of time i dare not say.

with this caveat, i could imagine no other  image i have loved more or for a longer period of time than this. while constantly inundated with over-the-top details, trends, the latest, the greatest, the buy/keep/store and the bigger, better and of-the-moment, i find it paramount to start simple.

perhaps a testament to American culture (?), it is hard to top the quality of the classic, a simple white shirt w/jeans & proper accessories.

when done right, may it be a uniform for life…
